Groovin’ the Moo is pretty darn excited about pulling up in Bunbury this Saturday May 11th for yet another sold out event however, the full East Coast contingent won’t be in tow. Urthboy has put on a stellar performance for the past four GTM events but unfortunately he won’t be performing at GTM Bunbury this weekend.
It’s been such a pleasure to have him as part of the GTM family but now it’s time for Urthboy to focus on his family, letting GTM HQ know earlier today,
"Over the years I've had the great pleasure of experiencing Bunbury - mostly through the lens of the classic Prince of Wales Hotel. It's a beautiful little port on a stretch of WA coastline that holds countless good memories, whether they be Bussleton, Dunsborough or that sensational little town called Margaret River and Settler's Tavern. Therefore it brings me great displeasure to announce I won't be playing at Groovin’ the Moo this Saturday. My wife is having a baby and I'll be by her side. I happily give my life to music but not this time. I'm so sorry to the legends that were looking forward to seeing us, I shall try and make it up to you. Groovin the Moo is one of the best run festivals; with the most relaxed vibe and friendly atmosphere so you're in for a great day. The bands are killer and there's something special about a super-pro regional music festival. I should add, the organisers have been understanding of my predicament and I'm very grateful. I owe them and you, possibly my second child. Thank you for your understanding and apologies for the disappointment."
GTM wishes Urthboy and his family all the best and welcomes 21 year old rapper Allday who will be stepping up and onto the GTM stage in Urthboy’s place. Allday has been tearing up the Australian hip-hop scene with the recent release of his EP ‘Loners Are Cool’ going straight into the ARIA charts at #18. Currently based in Melbourne after moving from his native home of Adelaide, this will be Allday’s debut GTM appearance.
triple j Unearthed winner Kadyelle is no longer able to appear at GTM Bunbury, she will be missed! The Love Junkies, Foam and Anton Franc have all graciously extended their playing times so the Bunbury Moo Crew don’t miss out.
And we also welcome the Groovin the Prince and Mootown winners to the Bunbury leg! After some serious competition at the Prince of Wales last night, local Collie lads, Sister’s Doll will be playing the first notes of the festival. Congratulations are also in order to our Mootown comp winners who wowed us with their mad mixing skills. Be sure to get your dance on with our two winners, Jack Martin (under 18) and Bruno Osredecki (over 18) at the Mootown party tent.

Groovin’ the Moo (GTM) Bunbury has officially SOLD OUT in record time! Saturday 11 May is the final leg of the 2013 National Tour and Cattleyard Promotions along with Sunset Events are ecstatic that once again it will be a full paddock.
With less than a week until GTM’s trucks are on the road and with the GTM events in Maitland (27 April) and Bendigo (4 May) also already sold-out, GTM Canberra (28 April) and Townsville (5 May) are the only events left with tickets still available.
‘It’s a wonderful result for GTM and we thank all the fans in Bunbury and West Australia for being so supportive of our show once again. It’s such a great way to end the tour.” said Stephen Halpin, Cattleyard Promotions
Featuring over 26 artists across the GTM double outdoor stages and in the Moolin Rouge big top tent, the festival also provides local food and market stalls, licensed bar facilities, slingshot rides and chill out areas to make a perfect day.
Stay tuned for the announcement of the winner from Bunbury’s Groovin’ The Prince Competition.

With only a few short weeks to go until the 2013 tour kicks off, Groovin’ the Moo wants you to get involved with your Commoonity! Whether you’re a creative, an adrenaline junkie or someone who just likes to know what’s going on in your piece of paddock, GTM has something for you! From workshops to stage diving, emerging Australian bands to local regional bands, cool competitions and a healthy dose of local commoonity activity, the latest and up to date info from GTM HQ is here…
Can you work wonders with a lens? We’re on the hunt for regional Australia’s most promising photographers to be a part of the inaugural SHOOT THE MOO! You’ll be given a once in a lifetime opportunity to shoot Frightened Rabbit direct from the official photographer’s pit at your local Groovin’ the Moo, as well as hang out with the band backstage for a few casual behind-the-scenes snaps. We’re also going to give you one on one time with a professional photographer to ask all those tricky questions, and put your work in front of some serious heavyweights. Sounds like your cup of tea? To enter and for more information, log onto www.shootthemoo.com Entries close Friday 19 April 2013, so don’t drag your heels on this one!
Last week Goldsmith were congratulated as the triple j Unearthed winner for this region and GTM would also like to welcome the following local artists The Owls, Galleri and emerging Sydney duo, Fishing.
MusicNSW has teamed up with GTM for a special competition for NSW’s emerging MCs and producers: an exclusive backstage songwriting workshop with one of Aussie hip-hop’s finest, Seth Sentry! This special workshop is a great opportunity for musos to share their work and score feedback from the guy who brought us “The Waitress Song” and “Float Away”. There are 12 places up for grabs: head to www.musicnsw.com/2013/04/win-a-backstage-songwriting-workshop-with-seth-sentry-at-groovin-the-moo/ for info on how to enter and for competition T&Cs. Entries close 19 April 2013. This is not to be missed!
Steel City Collective will be adding their signature art to scrims, scaff and sneaky surfaces around the GTM Maitland event site…
SAFIA have been announced as the triple j Unearthed winner from the Nation’s Capital and GTM has handpicked Citizen Kay, Julia and the Deep Sea Sirens and Elisha Bones to make their debut Moo performance.
The GTM Canberra site will once again become a canvas for local artists Houl, SWERFK, Micha and Walrus. As the first ever winner of Secret Wars Australia in 2010, Houl has had his artwork projected onto the National Library of Australia and The National Portrait Gallery (to name a few) and Walrus’ work usually has a home in Sydney and Canberra on walls transcending the divisionbetween the gallery and the street. Street artist and printmaker SWERFK, is known for blending elements of the natural and artificial environment and Micha will add her signature tangible cheekiness that’s sure to challenge convention. GTM is very much looking forward to seeing what comes to life for this year’s event…
Representing local Bendigo talent is ABREACT (triple j unearthed winner) and the 2013 Bendigo winner of The Push – Eater of the Sky. GTM would also like to welcome indie-rock band APES (who kicked off their career in Ballarat) and Melbourne four-piece, KINGSWOOD.
GTM would also like to extend a huge ‘THANK YOU’ to Bendigo Senior Secondary College (BSSC) students who are getting behind the event and putting their sewing skills to work to create a range of soft furnishings including table runners, tablecloths and cushion covers for GTM’s backstage Artist area.
While BSSC are busy crafting for the back of house GTM areas, local crew Hiphopportunities will be armed with their spray cans creating another feature piece to welcome festival-goers and the Artist’s alike at GTM Bendigo.
Be sure to keep an eye out for Vanessa (TAC) at Bendigo GTM! The Vanessa Program was conceived by the TAC back in 2006 as a way of delivering road safety messages at music festivals. Vanessa is a big orange truck, but she’s also much, much more. Vanessa is a mobile cinema, a chill out spot, a photo booth, a free breath tester, and a big sis to thousands of young people across the state. You’ll find the Vanessa Crew breath testing, and handing out water throughout the day at GTM. Your mate’s life is in your hands.
Local Townsville Artists are out in full force in 2013 and GTM couldn’t be more excited! Cape York has been announced as the triple j Unearthed winner and GTM has cherry picked Finding Luna, Alex Oram AND KING.
Are you a thrill-seeker and a music lover? Townsville GTM is the event for you! Channel [V] is giving a handful of lucky winners flights, accomm and access to Stage Dive at Groovin the Moo in front of the main stages action. Go to vmusic.com.au for further information and full terms and conditions.
Kadyelle is the lucky Lady, who as the triple j Unearthed winner, will represent GTM’s WA home of Bunbury! The timetable for ‘Mootown’ and the annual ‘Groovin’ the Prince’ competition is still yet to unfold BUT in the meantime, GTM would like to give a warm welcome to emerging local Perth artists The Love Junkies, FOAM and Anton Franc who join the fun to kick off the day’s festivities in the West.

Sun’s coming up on a pure gold Groovin’ The Moo (GTM) 2013!
Come the April/May cusp, GTM is looking forward to sharing some of the freshest sonic produce from favourite home-grown acts to international imports when returning to its much loved four regional towns as well as the Nation’s capital.
From Flume, Tame Impala, The Temper Trap (who will close the main stage) and Seth Sentry to Example (UK), The Kooks (UK), Tegan and Sara (CAN) and The Bronx (USA), the GTM community of 75,000 from across the country are in for a premium shindig.
Just one year shy of celebrating its 10th birthday and with a history of sell-out events, in 2013 GTM’s five shows will again be ready to cater for all ages (16+ recommended). In the market fresh words of GTM Promoter Stephen Halpin,
“After six months of planning, it’s always an exciting time when the GTM line-up is finally revealed. Again we've assembled a great bunch of exciting new acts and festival favourites. We’re very excited to be hosting They Might Be Giants' first visit to Australia in a long while."
With over 26 artists set to feature on the GTM double outdoor stages and in the Moolin Rouge big top tent, the festival will also again provide local food stalls abundant with fresh produce of the culinary variety and markets filled with knick knacks, licensed bar facilities, slingshot rides and chill out areas which all collide together to complete a premium recipe.
In the wise words of Will Rogers, “An onion can make people cry but there's never been a vegetable that can make people laugh.”
However, a pineapple comes pretty close. Speaking of…to turn a colloquialism, a couple pineapples ($99.90 + bf) will help secure your tickets when they go on-sale from 9am local time on Tuesday 5 February (Maitland & Canberra) and Wednesday 6 February (Bendigo, Townsville & Bunbury).
Be first to get all the news and festival updates, by signing up for the Moos Flash at www.gtm.net.au.
Don’t forget, entries for the GTM TEE Competition are now open. For your chance to have your design in the official GTM merch trailer and nail a swag of great prizes visit the Competitions page at www.gtm.net.au.
